Volunteer at
Bathhouse

Volunteering at Bathhouse is a pathway to ownership. We have a few teams for you to choose from, so apply to the one that best suits your skills.

Tell us about yourself, submit the form, and we can get started building the world we want to dance in.

Choose Your Team

You can apply for as many teams as you’d like. Please submit a separate form for each team you’d like to be a part of. Click the team title to access the form.

Awareness

Our Awareness Team is committed to creating a safer and more comfortable space for everyone at our events. Awareness Team members will be required to be completely sober from drugs & alcohol for the entirety of the event they are working.

As a volunteer, you may be involved in:

  • Being visible and approachable for anyone feeling unsafe or overwhelmed.

  • Monitoring crowd dynamics and de-escalating situations where needed.

  • Supporting individuals experiencing distress or harm.

  • Coordinating with security, event organisers and professional services (including emergency medical services) if a situation requires escalation.

News

Bathhouse’s voice beyond the dancefloor. The newsletter, written content, community outreach, and storytelling. You write about our ethos, rave history, queer nightlife, and community developments. You find leads for partnerships, collaborations, guest writers, and cross-promotion with other collectives.

NB: You should be a strong writer who understands our voice. No corporate-speak, no sanitised language.

Build

Makes the physical reality of our events possible. You design and construct the structures, installations, and decorations that transform a venue into a Bathhouse space — build days before events, installation on the day, pack-down after.

You need to be practical, reliable, and comfortable with tools and physical work. Build days happen in the lead-up to events.

NB: No previous experience required. If you’re good with your hands, enjoy making things, and can show up when it counts, this is your team. We’ll teach you the rest.

Community

Be involved with everything that happens outside of our parties, including other events, activities, and relationships that build Bathhouse as a community, not just a night out. Fundraisers, exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative projects with other queer collectives and local organisations.

You need strong planning skills, a good understanding of Cape Town’s local dynamics, and the ability to manage relationships across the community.

NB: If you’re a connector, or someone who knows people, has ideas, and wants to build the infrastructure between the parties, this is where you belong.
